BeginFit explains fitness for people who are just starting. This page explains how we write our guides and tools, how we check them, and what we will never do.
How we write
- We answer the main question first, in the opening lines.
- We use short sentences and everyday words.
- When we use a gym or science term, we explain it straight away. For example: “progressive overload means slowly asking a bit more of your muscles over time.”
- We give simple examples you can use at your next workout.
How we check facts
- We base our guides on trusted sources, such as health organisations, published research and professional guidelines.
- Each guide lists the sources it uses, so you can read them yourself.
- Each guide shows who wrote it and when it was last updated. If a qualified person reviewed it, we name them. We never invent authors, reviewers or credentials.
What we will never do
- Promise a result, like a set amount of weight lost or muscle gained by a date.
- Claim you can lose fat from one chosen body part.
- Publish fake reviews, testimonials or member numbers.
- Present a guess as a medical fact.
Our tools
Each tool explains how it works, what it assumes and where its answer may not fit you. We only list a tool as ready once it works and its maths has been checked.
Our app
We make the BeginFit app, and we sometimes mention it in our guides. When we do, it's because it is relevant, and we only describe features that exist today.
Not medical advice
Our guides and tools are general information, not medical advice. If you have a heart or lung condition, are pregnant, had recent surgery or have pain that worries you, talk to a doctor before you start or change your training.
Updates and corrections
We review our guides and update them when the evidence changes. When we fix a mistake, we update the date at the top of the page.
